Download the latest version of the CHESS for Unix. This version does not include the graphic interface or post processor: if you are interested in the full JCHESS package, please go to the purchase page.
Note that the free unix version comes with absolutely no warranty. Questions with regard to the use of the model can be send to out email address, which will be received by the developers of CHESS in the Centre of Geosciences, you may use English or French).
Note that, with some browsers, you will have to press SHIFT when clicking the object for enabling the "save-as" feature. Otherwise you will invoke an automatic decompression leading to a lot of weird characters in your browser.

Note: the scripting tutorial is not quite up-to-date. This guide may serve as a starter: help on recent keywords is available on-line as outlined in the tutorial. We are working on a new tutorial for this version.

- Create 2 new directories
/usr/local/chess/binand/usr/local/chess/tdb. - Download CHESS in
/usr/local/chess/binand, eventually, make CHESS executable with chmod a+x. - make a symbolic link between this executable and
/usr/local/bin/chess - Download one or several databases (from here) in
/usr/local/chess/tdb. Note that CHESS looks for/usr/local/chess/tdb/chess.tdbin absence of other filename specifications in the script.
CHESS produces simple output files according to the format X, Y1, Y2,... which are readily read with any graphical software. Reaction path results are readily displayed with either JPlot or Gnuplot (both GNU-ware and freely available).
